Nelly Sachs

Nelly Sachs (1891-1970) was a German poet and playwright best known for her post-World War II works portraying Jewish suffering, most notably the drama Eli: A Mystery Play of the Sufferings of Israel (1950). She was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1966.
